Reflections on COVID-19 and Cancer Care: Stories by Oncology Nurses
After a year-long pandemic that has changed all of our lives, ONS has published a free, online collection of stories from oncology nurses detailing their accounts of life during COVID-19. Edited by Connie Henke Yarbro, MS, RN, FAAN, Reflections on COVID-19 and Cancer Care: Stories by Oncology Nurses captures the authentic voices of oncology nurses recounting their personal struggles, triumphs, and tragedies during a once-in-a-century public health crisis.
The book collects stories from a wide range of contributors working in a variety of settings and living in places both rural and urban. Some of them include incredibly poignant and sad stories recollecting the deaths of patients and loved ones, and the personal trauma that many of their patients with cancer underwent in isolation. Others share tales of hope and perseverance during a time of much stress.
Please take some time to read these stories and reflect on how the pandemic has changed oncology nursing and society, in general, since early 2020.
